In this thesis, I will explore how Lorde wrote about difference from two perspectives: differences within an individual, and differences within or between communities of people. I will examine Lorde’s understanding of how differences have previously been abused to the detriment of individuals and communities, as well as how she sees difference can be transformed into a positive and creative social force.
