dc.description.abstract Service is a play which I wrote and directed for my senior project in Theatre. It is a dark comedy that dabbles in both farce and melodrama, following fictional Bryn Mawr School of Social Work student Ramsay Kay in his quest to write a dissertation ("...to save the world") on criminal rehabilitation. Funded by a prestigious grant, Ramsay's research takes him into the world of court-ordered community service--first as an observer, but eventually as a participant. Two broken noses later (one his own), Ramsay, an only-child from a white upper-middle class family, is in way over his head--though it is there that he finally finds company.
