Abstract
Black women in Horror continue to build on what we know as Horror. In Zakiya Dalila Harris's "The Other Black Girl," she continues this legacy of giving Horror a fresh outtake on what it means to be a Black woman in writing. She does this by distinguishing the Black female gaze(s) through her characters, and by working within the Black female oppositional gaze. Without villainizing her Black female characters, she paints a world that focuses on the Horror of what it means to be successful and how much one is willing to sacrifice for this success.
