- ItemIn the Realm of Feathers and Fur(2010) Kaplan, Sam; Dietrich, Dorothea; Kinney, Dale; McKim-Smith, Gridley, 1943-2013Feathers and Fur is a fashion magazine produced by Bryn Mawr and Haverford students that I worked for in fall 2009. As I worked, I thought, "Feathers and Fur produces not just fashion images but also gendered bodies. What's the relationship between the magazine’s photography, photo editing, and layout and this production of gendered bodies and images?" My project's marred by a sense that fashion's a frivolous pursuit. Here, I take this “frivolity” seriously, considering what's at stake in such a classification.
